How to prepare a plot for a mobile home?
When planning to build a mobile home, appropriate preparation of the area is a key stage that will affect the stability, comfort and safety of your new place of residence. Here are some steps you should take before placing a mobile home on your plot:
1. Choosing the right plot:
Start by choosing the right plot that meets your needs and requirements. Make sure the site is of adequate size, accessible to vehicles, and meets local laws and regulations regarding the construction of mobile homes.
2. Plot preparation:
First, you need to select the appropriate part of the plot on which the mobile home is to be built. Then, remove any obstacles such as stones, branches or weeds from the surface and level the surface to avoid unevenness that may affect the stability of the structure.
3. Checking the quality of the soil and preparing the substrate:
Check the quality and load-bearing capacity of the soil on which you plan to build the house. It is worth consulting a surveyor or construction specialist to choose the most appropriate method of embedding the mobile home. In the case of soil that makes foundation difficult, care should be taken to harden it. For this purpose, the upper layer of soil should be collected to a depth of approx. 25-30 cm. The resulting trench should be supplemented with a strip layer up to 7 cm thick. On the layer thus created, geotextile should be placed and covered with a layer of sand. Subsequent layers consist of aggregate with an increasingly smaller grain fraction. It is important that the subsequent layers poured are not thicker than 7 cm, and care should be taken to ensure their appropriate compaction, a plate compactor will work best for this purpose. The ground prepared in this way is ready for further foundation works.
In the case of difficult areas where preparing the ground for the foundation would be economically unprofitable, we recommend making pile foundations that will allow you to safely foundation the house in the most difficult ground conditions.
4. Infrastructure connections:
Make sure that the necessary infrastructure connections, such as water, sewage and electricity, are available on the plot. If such connections do not exist, you will need to plan for them or arrange alternative/independent sources of supply.
